32 Weeks!

It's Sunday night...already. Why does time go by so fast on the weekends? I find myself staying up too late on Sunday nights because I know that once I go to sleep, Monday will be here. I guess that's kind of silly. This week TCAP starts on Thursday. I'm so glad it's finally here so we can get it over with after weeks and weeks of stressing, reviewing, praying :). The pressure that is put on us as teachers for our students to do well on this test is ridiculous...but I will spare you and stay off my soap box.
What a beautiful weekend! Is it bad that I'm just a happier person when it's warm outside? Praise the Lord that winter is gone! Saturday I went to Calista Turner's shower. Bethany did a great job putting it together. It's fun to watch others during this part of their lives. I remember the excitement and anticipation before our wedding, going to wedding showers and getting all the fun kitchen stuff (the only time in my life I was excited to get a crock pot).
Saturday night Kyle took me out on a date. It seems like I'm thinking more and more about how these times when we can just go out without getting a babysitter are coming to an end. We have to cherish and appreciate these moments while we still have them.
We ate at Cheddar's (yum) and saw a movie. I think that might be the last movie I am going to be able to sit through. I was pretty uncomfortable by the time it was over. Thank goodness for arm rests that move and allow you to stretch out.
Friday was 32 weeks. It's funny how it felt like some kind of big accomplishment when I passed 30 weeks. I'm starting to feel a little impatient. :) I'm just ready to meet our babies. I'm ready to know if they are boys or girls. But even though I'm having a hard time being patient, I want them to stay in and grow as long as possible. I guess it's ok to contradict myself and not really make any sense because I'm pregnant, right? I'm going to miss using that excuse.

Peas in a Pod

Saturday Mom and Jessica threw a shower for us. I had so much fun! They worked so hard and everything was perfect, down to the smallest detail. The theme was "Two Peas in a Pod". Jessica made an amazing cake that looked like two baby peas in a pod. She is becoming quite the talented baker/cake decorator. She will definitely have to give me some pointers when our little ones come. :) The food was so yummy, my favorite being the little green mints shaped like peas in pods. They were so cute!
Before the shower, Ethan taped Kyle answering several questions about our babies. At the shower, I was asked the same questions and tried to figure out what Kyle's answers would have been. If I answered correctly, I opened a present. If I got the answer wrong, I had to eat a piece of Double Mint gum. I ended up chewing a lot of gum! But I loved the game! It was so much fun!
No, we did not find out that we are having a boy and a girl...the picture of the boy and girl baskets was just Mom making her prediction as to what they will be when they are born. :)
Thank you to everyone who joined us on Saturday! It meant so much to have everyone together with me to celebrate. Thank you to Mom and Jessica for working so hard to put together such a wonderful shower. And thank you to Meagan for taking such great pictures! You captured the day beautifully.

Cribs

Our cribs are in! Aren't they beautiful! Ok, yes they're still in the boxes. But we're excited to have them. Can't wait to put them together. Kyle is well on his way to finishing the room. I'm excited to see the finished product. It's going to be beautiful.
Yesterday, I didn't have to go to school. I met my friend Meagan for a pedicure (my favorite thing), followed by shopping and lunch. It was such a fun day! And the perfect ending was dinner with the Legels at Miller's Grocery. We have been wanted to take Bryce, and his family of course :), because of the live music on Friday and Saturday nights. We had a wonderful time. Bryce seemed to love watching the guys play, naming all the instruments. We had such a great time. And the food at Miller's.....so yummy. If you've never been, you must try it out.
We had a doctor's appointment on Thursday with an ultrasound. Mimi and Popi went with us this time. Our babies are still right on track! One is weighing in at 3lbs. and 10 oz. and the other is 3lbs. and 14 oz. Both were facing my back which meant Mimi and Popi didn't get to see very much. We also noticed that they did not move very much, but the lady who was doing the ultrasound said they are just getting bigger so there won't be as much movement. It's funny to hear her say that, considering I still feel them moving all the time. :) Both babies are still breech, so a scheduled c-section is still in the plans. I think the babies are doing this on purpose to make sure Papa and Grandma from Minnesota can be here when they are born. Clever little rascals. :)
Mom and Jessica are throwing us a baby shower today. I'm so excited! I can't wait to celebrate this time with family and friends. Pictures to follow soon!

The Nursery

Last weekend I went to the Ladies' Conference at Horton Haven. What an amazing time! I came away feeling refreshed and blessed to have spent time with such Godly ladies.
While I was gone, Kyle had made plans to paint the nursery. If you knew how much my husband hates to paint, you would understand how much this meant to me. :) He decided to recruit my Dad, who loves to paint (I guess that's where I get it from). I was so excited and anxious all weekend to come home and see what it looked like. We love the green in our crib set, but that shade of green had a lot of yellow in it, which would not have been good to use for a whole room. So at Home Depot, we picked out a color that was a shade or 2 lighter, hoping for the best when it went up on the wall. And I love it!! I was so excited when I got home. It looks so bright and cheerful. I can't wait to get everything else in the room. It's going to be beautiful!
I will be 30 weeks on Friday. I can't believe it. Time is flying by. I have had the most wonderful, relaxing Spring Break. I'm sad that I only have 2 days left. I've been able to rest, read, and put my feet up. My feet are almost back to their normal
size. :) My next ultrasound is April 1st. I'm excited to see our babies again!

My First Baby Shower

Last week I had my first baby shower. My awesome team of 3rd grade teachers at Rockvale threw a double baby shower for me and Jahna, another 3rd grade teacher. I had so much fun! The faculty and staff at school were so generous. I received so many great things! The ladies that I teach with gave me both Bumpos that we had registered for. I was so excited to get these! The shower made everything seem more real.
I have to send a big thank you out to my team. I teach with the most amazing group of ladies. I am so blessed to be able to teach with them everyday.
Since I was in a room full of women, most of them moms, they insisted that I put my feet up while I opened presents. Needless to say, I am well taken care of during the day at school. :)

Today, I went in to see Dr. Riley. No ultrasound this time, but he did listen to the heartbeats. Everything is going really well. He was not able to tell me if the babies are still breech. I was really hoping to find that out, but I will see him again in 2 weeks for an ultrasound. We talked a lot about having a C-section. It is still a big possibility. Even if one baby flips and the other stays breech, he says a C-section will probably still be the safest way to go. After having some time to get used to the idea, I am completely at peace with whatever Dr. Riley decides. The real peace is knowing that our children are in God's hands and He ultimately knows what's best for them.

My New Best Friend

Last weekend, I met my new best friend. My Aunt Scarlett has a friend who has recently had twins (her twins are 10 months old). She turned out to be such an encouragement to me. She was open to any question I could think of. In a world where strangers who find out I'm having twins, look at me with wide eyes and say, "What are you going to do??", she told me that I could do it. She was so positive, which was just what I needed. She has offered her phone number and email and told me that I can contact her anytime. I'm so glad to have found her! Thank you for introducing me, Aunt Scarlett! :)
Here's a quick picture of the belly. It's getting bigger...I'm getting more uncomfortable...It's getting harder to get around. :) All signs that we are getting closer and closer to meeting our babies! I'm trying to be patient, but it's hard!
(Eric, I don't know what we were talking about but I seem to have confused you somehow.) :)

Our Beautiful Babies

Yesterday Kyle and I went in for our next ultrasound. We were so excited at the possibility of seeing our babies in 3D this time. The normal ultrasound pictures are wonderful, of course, but 3D is the closest thing to a real picture. It took awhile for her to get a good picture once she turned the 3D on, but once she was able to get to the best angle, there they were! It was the most amazing thing! I couldn't believe we were looking right into the faces of our babies. As I'm trying to describe it, there are really no words to express it. Here are some of the best shots. The first 2 are Baby A and the next 2 are Baby B.

Both babies are doing great! They both weigh the same (2 lbs. 1 oz). They gained a whole pound a piece! They are both breech right now, with their heads up and feet down. Dr. Riley said he thinks I will end up having a c-section because they are getting bigger and it is becoming less likely that they will turn. This was a big surprise for me. I knew that this was more of a possibility with twins, but it was the first time he had actually acted like it was a good possibility. That's not exactly how I pictured things happening. I think I just need some time to get used to the idea.
I go in again in 2 weeks to check heartbeats and we will have another ultrasound in 4 weeks. Thanks to everyone for your prayers! We are having so much fun! We think our babies are beautiful...but of course we are the parents. :)
